GMCH loses PG in Radiotherapy and IGGMC misses increased quota in Forensic Medicine
By Vikas Vaidya The department of Radiotherapy of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) had become the first one to got two Post Graduate seats last year. But unfortunately, this year The PG Committee of Medical Council of India (MCI) has decided not to recommend the same. Another Government Hospital, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) has also got a shock when its claim for increased quota in Forensic Medicine from 2 to 3 was not recommended. The Postgraduate Committee considered the Council assessor’s report and decided to recommend not to recognize MD (Radiotherapy) qualification granted by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik in respect of students being trained at GMCH because - There are no Tutors against requirement of 5 as per regulations, there are no publications in indexed journals in last 3 years, equipment for Radio Surgery is not available, and other deficiencies pointed out in the assessment report.
