Govt names two committees to implement sports and youth policies By Vikas Vaidya Maharashtra Government has constituted Sub-committee of Joint Board of Vice-Chancellor (JBVC) to implement the recommendations of Sports policy and Youth policy effectively at the level of college and university. Government has issued Government Resolution (GR) on June 14, 2012 through which new sports policy and youth policy came into being. There are 58 recommendations in Sports policy while 20 in Youth policy. State government has prepared youth policy taking the youths, in the age group of 18 to 35 years, into consideration. Though the beneficiaries of sports policy are in all age groups, the age group of competent sportsperson is below 35 years. Such youths normally take study at college or university level. AICTE relaxes eligibility criterion for engineering admission Open Category- 45% in PCM, backward class with 40% in PCM can get admission in engineering college - Date of submitting application extended to July 8 Vikas Vaidya Now any student who has secured 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at HSC examination can secure admission in Engineering College. The eligibility norm has been scaled down from minimum 50% in PCM to 45% in PCM for general category students. For backward class students the norm has been relaxed from 45% to 40%, apparently due to mismatch between number of engineering seats and number of eligible students. Fearing action under PCPNDT Act, 112 Sonography centres in city close the shutter By Vikas Vaidya IN last few days, a large number of Sonography centres within city have stopped functioning, after authorities slapped notices and directed them to submit bonds and furnish mandatory information. In Nagpur, 112 such Sonography Centres have temporarily been closed down. These centres have been closed under Rule 17 (3) of rule 1996 of Pre conception and Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex selection) Act -1994. NMC has sealed four centres namely Dr Rajendra Prakashe, Dr M K Khanduja, Dr Vilas Kanikdale, Dr Raju Deshmukh.
