Two children from city who are autistic started talking in a proper way, doing activities like normal ones. Thanks to Stem cell therapy. The parents of the children became helpless but the treatment gave them new hopes. Neurogen Brain and Spine Institute helped these two kids-- Avaneesh and Krishna to get charged.
“Stem Cells Therapy combined with neurorehabilitation approach is a new holistic comprehensive approach & hope for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders” says Dr Nandini Gokulchandran, Deputy Director, NeuroGen Brain and Spine Institute
Till date, NeuroGen has already offered treatment to over 400 autistic kids from across the globe. Two such kids of Nagpur city, who were hugely benefitted from this new and novel treatment, are Avaneesh Shetty and Krishna Agarwal.
Avaneesh Shetty, a 3 year old boy residing 100 km away from Nagpur is a known case of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Though Avaneesh was mild autistic still he has a history of poor attention and concentration, poor sitting tolerance and increased hyperactivity. He also showed signs of delayed development and poor speech. Avaneesh who was 2.5 years old and had normal motor milestones and speech was developing normally suddenly he started displaying regression in speech. His attention and concentration was affected, social interaction was poor as he preferred to stay aloof and he was unable to solve a problem by himself. His command following was poor; he had become a hyperactive and had difficulty in sitting in one place. His eye contact was also very poor and he was dependent on the parents for all his daily activities. Post the Stem Cell Therapy treatment, now Avaneesh can recite nursery rhymes Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Stem Cell Therapy helped a non-verbal Avaneesh to speak and recite nursery rhymes. Mr. Shetty, father of Avaneesh said “I am delighted with the way my son is responding to Stem Cell Therapy. Avaneesh has improved a lot. He has started talking, recites poetries, listens and responds to the commands given to him; his hyperactivity has reduced and can now concentrate for a longer time now.”
The second case was of Krishna Agarwal again a Nagpur resident only. While Krishna was 3 years old his parents noticed that he was hyperactive, speech regressed furthermore, his response to name was poor and hence they consulted a psychologist who diagnosed him to have Autism. On February 28, 2015, Krishna underwent Stem Cell transplantation at NeuroGen which was combined with extensive rehabilitation. He underwent therapies behaviour therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, art therapy, play therapy, physiotherapy and special education. They were also provided with a home program and he was asked to undergo therapy for 6 hours and 6 days. “Before SCT, Krishna would not make an eye contact with me while talking or asking for anything, there were jerky movements, he wouldn’t like if there was a change in his routine. But now it’s great to see him looking at me when I am talking with him or commanding something, his repetitive movements have stopped and now if there is a change in his routine then he cooperates” says Mrs.Agarwal.
Dr Nandini said, “This therapy is powerful. Only thing is that people should have faith. The results do not get immediately. Patients have to wait. I am happy that parents responded very positively.”
