DR ARUN Jamkar, during his Nagpur tour, visited Swargiya
Dadasaheb Kalmegh Dental College. Highly placed sources said that
he inspected college at the behest of complaints by teachers, students.
The complaints are of serious allegations against the college
management, some of which are personal too, it is learnt. In recently
submitted report of enquiry committees of Pravesh Niyantran
Samiti there was no mention of this college. The reason behind it,
is, no complaint against the college was received by the samiti. The
sources said the people are afraid of lodging the complaint with the
authorities.
Sources disclosed that Dr Jamkar visited college and talked to students
and so many shocking facts came to fore which are against
management. The Hitavada has a copy of the complaint. Dr Jamkar
visited the college taking cognisance of the complaint, but it needs
to be seen that what action he would take? This is because a senior
person in Directorate of Medical Education and Research, who happens
to be closely associated with Dental Council of India, is a guiding
force of the college, sources said. It is also alleged that the college
management grilled some students over why they talked to Dr
Jamkar about the problems.

Scrub Typhus's first caseconfirmed from Central India

    By Vikas Vaidya WHEN 45 year-old Kusum Wankhede of Kolhu village, Katol tehsil came to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH), nobody thought that her case would throw a light on new disease as far as medical fraternity of Central India is concerned. She had multi-organ dysfunction with involvement of liver, kidneys, lungs and meningitis and her platelets were reduced. Malaria and Dengue were suspected and ruled out by specific blood tests. Scrub Typhus was suspected when careful examination revealed a black mark (left by mite’s bite) called eschar was noticed over the patient’s right side of the chest. The eschar, which occurs at the site where the mite bites is the single most clinical diagnostic clue.
