The Information Technology (IT) policy got extension till March. We will listen to the suggestions of top businessmen of IT sector. The meeting regarding this will be held in January 2015 wherein the representatives of the companies like TATA, TCS, Infosys, HCL will participate, informed Maharashtra’s Industry Minister Subhash Desai. Desai was speaking to The Hitavada.
“We are trying to incorporate gaming, graphics, animation. If we could be able to concentrate on IT and set up the hubs, it will create more number of jobs. Already Government is planning to make investment of Rs 5 lakh crore. It will generate 20 lakh jobs and with it, State Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be 28% ,” pointed Desai.
“To make atmosphere encouraging for industries we have to remove problems of license. In our state we have over 70 types of licenses which makes it difficult for industrialists to run their units. We will be reducing it to 25. Secondly, people complains that for every small reason they have to go to Mumbai. We have to simplify the procedures so that people of Nagpur do not have to go to Mumbai,” said Desai.
“Baba Kalyani of Bharat Forge told me that industries need ready-made product in the form of employees. To impart that type of education, it should be linked with industry. We want to coordinate with education department to link education with industry,” pointed Desai.
“We are planning to set up textile hubs. Considering regional needs and regional resources we will be establishing those units. for example, Nagpur has Oranges so Orange processing units should be helpful in creating employment,” added Desai.
“The biggest foreign direct investment is in Maharashtra. The rate of starting actual project after signing of MoU is highest in Maharashtra which is 62%. State has  417 big projects including IT, Chemicals, Wine park, Food park, Textile hub, silver zone etc,” said Desai.
Replying to a query, Desai said, “We have observed that people purchase plot but do not start unit. We are preparing list of such people. They will be issued notices and will be given time to reply. Those who have completed 60-70% work and invested solid amount will be given some more time to complete those projects. There are categories of various zones like A, B, C, D and D+.  There is stipulated time period for setting up industries after purchasing plots. It is different in different zones. We will ask them to set up industry or leave the plot.”

Advantage Vidarbha to be continued

Praising the efforts by previous government about holding Advantage Vidarbha, Subhash Desai, Industries Minister said that the activity would not stop. The date has not yet been fixed but it will be held soon. Throwing light on what is being done as far as Vidarbha’s industrial development concerned, Desai said, “The target has been set for setting up 38 big and 36 small scale industrial sectors. We are endeavoring to attract industries to Butibori, Amravati-Nandgaon Peth.
