Nagpurians again experiences mild tremors of earthquake

Less than a month ago Nepal had a severe earthquake and Nagpur city too had experienced tremors at large at every places. People from the offices had come out, some of the offices declared holiday for the day for the people’s safety. On Tuesday too though mild but earthquake tremors were felt in some parts of Nagpur triggering widespread panic and pulling fear-stricken people out of their homes and offices at few places.
Deputy Director General and Head of Department of Geological Survey of India, Central Region, Nagpur N Kutumb Rao, Seismic Broadband Observatory located within the premises of GSI, Nagpur had analyzed and computed the data for the earthquake occurred on Tuesday. The data says, the earthquake took place at 12.35 noon at a magnitude of 7.5 Richter Scale. The epicentre of the quake was 1027 kms from the observatory at Nagpur. The latitude was at 28.0050 North and longitude is at 85.915 East.
Residents of various parts of city called The Hitavada office and keep informing about the tremors. The areas were shaken for few seconds forcing them to scurry out of their homes and run for safer places. However, there was no immediate report of any loss of life or property.
Harbhagwan Nagpal, a resident of Itwari stays at third floor said, “I felt dizziness in the afternoon. At first I felt that something has gone wrong with my health. To clear my doubt, I asked my daughter. She said that she too felt something. I immediately switched on the TV and the news was going on. I felt that as if our building moved from East to West.”
At some places furniture rattled and ceiling fans swayed when the minor tremors struck. In few coaching classes, the students were asked to go out of the building. Wasimbhai, Assistant Registrar of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University told The Hitavada that the ceiling fans and furniture started shaking in his home at Zafarnagar.
Shrikant Vekhande, a drawing teacher at Centre Point School, Dabha who stays at Mhalginagar said he was so scared for his children’s safety as he felt the tremors.
Dr Anand Pathak, noted Oncologist whose hospital is at Dhantoli felt the tremors for one minute. He stays at Ramdaspeth and his family members too experienced the same.
