GMCH loses PG in Radiotherapy and IGGMC misses increased quota in Forensic Medicine

The department of Radiotherapy of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) had become the first one to got two Post Graduate seats last year. But unfortunately, this year The PG Committee of Medical Council of India (MCI) has decided not to recommend the same. Another Government Hospital, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) has also got a shock when its claim for increased quota in Forensic Medicine from 2 to 3 was not recommended.
The Postgraduate Committee considered the Council assessor’s report
and decided to recommend not to recognize MD (Radiotherapy) qualification granted
by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik in respect of students being
trained at GMCH because - There are no Tutors against requirement of 5 as per regulations,
there are no publications in indexed journals in last 3 years, equipment for Radio Surgery is not available, and other deficiencies pointed out in the assessment report. The Postgraduate Committee considered the Council assessor’s report and decided to recommend not to recognize MD (Forensic Medicine) qualification against increased intake from 2 to 3  seats granted by MUHS in respect of students being trained at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital including there is no Associate Professor in the department. Consequently, there is a deficiency of 1 Associate Professor and other deficiencies pointed out in the assessment report.
Wardha’s JNMC, NKPSIMS get increased PG seats
The Post Graduate (PG) Committee of Medical Council of India (MCI) has recommended one more PG seat to Wardha’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) affiliated to Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed University) (DMIMS). Now the intake has been increased from 3 to 4. MCI has also recommended one additional seat in Psychiatry and two in Paediatrics to NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences (NKPSIMS). Amravati’s Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Medical College’s one seat in MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy (DVL)  was recommended.
JNMC had applied for recognition of MD(Paediatrics) qualification against increased intake from 3 to 4. The Committee considered the assessment report  and decided to recommend that MD(Paediatrics) qualification against increased intake granted by DMIMS.
NKPSIMS had applied for MD(Psychiatry) qualification for 1 seat and recognition against
increased intake from 1  to 2 which was recommended positively by MCI. The Committee also recommended to recognise increased intake from 2 to 4 for MD(Paediatrics) and renewal of recognition of DCH qualification. Amravati’s PDMC got one seat in  MD (DVL).
