Common Management Admission Test begins

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) conducted Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2013. All MBA Institutes approved by AICTE are expected to accept CMAT Score. The CMAT 2013 Test is scheduled from February 21 to 25 in 62 cities. The candidates will have option of selecting date and city for appearing in the test on first come first served basis depending on availability of the slots in a particular city. Graduates with 50% (Open Category) and 45% (Reserved Category) in any discipline are eligible to take up CMAT Test.

Pattern of examination for CMAT
CMAT will be a computer-based test (CBT). A candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking the correct option. The computer-based CMAT 2013 – 2014 will have the following four sections with multiple choice questions (MCQ).

The expected duration of the CMAT is 3 hours (180 minutes). Four marks will be allotted per correct answer and incorrect answers will have a penalty of 1 mark.

Another CMAT to be conducted in May

With second CMAT  being conducted from February 21, it would be second CMAT. Both tests had elicited poor response from the students in the states, who were expecting PGCET for admissions to MBA course. So AICTE has decided to conduct another CMAT in mid-May for those who missed these two CMAT.
Final year Students of Graduate Courses (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc/B.Pham/L.L.B/B.Com/B.B.A/B.C.A/B.A. etc) can also apply. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) had requested the AICTE to hold another CMAT entrance test as very few students had applied for CMAT in Feb 2013.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi decided to conduct another testing window of Common Management Admissions Test (CMAT) for MBA aspirants in May 2013. AICTE made the CMAT is the only test for MBA admissions under the government quota from the coming academic year 2013, instead of state's own postgraduate entrance test.
Initially, AICTE officials decided to hold CMAT Entrance test twice a year from academic year 2013-14 in order to bring more easier to the MBA aspirants.
S.S. Mantha, Chairman AICTE, told The Hitavada, “The council had considered the request from the Karnataka government and decided to grant another testing window for students who will not be able to write CMAT second test. Even, other states had requested to hold another CMAT test. So we have decided to CMAT entrance test will be conducted around mid-May for students in the country."
However, Mantha has made it clear that it would not be a third test, but only another opportunity for those who were not able to apply for either CMAT first and CMAT second test.
